JOB DESCRIPTION

CAD Technician

Reference: 51404

Location Crayford, Kent Hours 8:00am - 5:00pm Working pattern Ideally full-time office based; hybrid may be

considered Salary Typically £50,000 - £60,000, dependent on skill level

and experience Software AutoCAD

The Opportunity Our client is a specialist architectural glazing business delivering technically demanding, high-quality façade and glazing solutions. The company works on commercial, residential and specialist projects, with the majority of current project activity based in central London. They are seeking an experienced CAD Technician who can take ownership of detailed design work across façades, curtain walling, windows, doors and associated architectural glazing packages.

This is a hands-on technical design role suited to somebody who understands how glazing and façade systems come together in the real world - not simply somebody who can operate AutoCAD. The successful candidate will be expected to develop coordinated drawings from approval stage through to record and fabrication information, interpret architects' comments, and support the wider design and delivery process.

Key Responsibilities  Produce accurate and coordinated AutoCAD drawings for façade, curtain walling, window, door and

balustrade packages.  Develop drawings from approval stage through to record and fabrication drawings.  Work with stick-built curtain walling and associated window and door systems.  Interpret architectural drawings, specifications and design comments and incorporate amendments into

final designs.  Compile technical submittals and supporting design documentation.  Produce purchase orders and ensure design information is coordinated with procurement and

manufacture.  Attend design-team meetings, both in person and via Microsoft Teams.  Manage and issue design documentation through cloud-based project portals such as Aconex, Procore or

Asite.  Coordinate with internal teams, architects, contractors and other project stakeholders to resolve technical

queries.  Maintain a high standard of accuracy, document control and attention to detail throughout the design

process.

Experience & Technical Knowledge  Strong practical experience within architectural glazing, façades or a closely related fenestration

environment.  Good working knowledge of stick-built curtain walling systems; experience with systems such as Schüco,

Comar, Metal Technology or comparable systems is highly relevant.  Experience designing or detailing aluminium windows and doors within comparable systems.  Knowledge of glass balustrading and associated interfaces is advantageous.  Confident AutoCAD user with the ability to produce clear, fabrication-ready technical drawings.  A sound understanding of relevant Building Regulations, including areas such as Part M, Part K and Part B.  CWCT training is desirable but is not essential.  Experience preparing technical submittals and coordinating design information through construction-

stage approval processes.  Experience using Aconex, Procore, Asite or similar document-management/project portals would be

beneficial.  Good general IT literacy, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

The Type of Person We Are Looking For You will be technically capable, organised and comfortable working across several live projects. You should be able to read architectural intent, identify practical design issues and translate requirements into accurate, buildable information. Strong communication skills are important, as the role involves regular interaction with design teams and project stakeholders.

Project Environment The wider business delivers bespoke and high-performance glazing solutions across the UK, including curtain walling, structural and specialist glazing, windows, doors, safety barriers and other architectural glass systems. Projects can involve technically complex commercial, residential and specialist environments where design quality, compliance, performance and constructability are critical.

Package  Typically £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience and technical capability.  Crayford, Kent office base.  8:00am - 5:00pm working hours.  Full-time office attendance is preferred, although a hybrid arrangement may be considered for the right

person.  The majority of current projects are located in central London.
