The Role

As a Pre-Enablement Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the Virgin Media network is fully prepared for customer connections. Working across the access network, you'll carry out pre-enablement activities, network assurance, cable installation, and remedial works to maintain high network quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out pre-enablement activities across the Virgin Media network.
  • Install, maintain, and replace telecommunications network infrastructure.
  • Pull, prove, and prepare fibre and coaxial cables through underground duct networks.
  • Rod, rope, and clear underground ducting, identifying and resolving blockages where possible.
  • Inspect and maintain cabinets, chambers, footways, carriageways, and customer access points.
  • Complete network quality inspections and remedial works to ensure installation readiness.
  • Safely operate specialist telecoms and civils equipment.
  • Accurately record completed works using handheld devices and digital job management systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health & safety, quality, and client standards.

What We're Looking For

Applicants must have previous experience working within the telecommunications industry, ideally on the Virgin Media network or similar HFC/fibre network infrastructure.

You'll ideally have experience in:

  • Telecoms pre-enablement or network build activities.
  • Fibre and coaxial cable installation.
  • Underground duct networks, chambers, and cabinets.
  • Network civils, cable proving, rodding and roping.
  • Identifying and rectifying network defects.
  • Working safely within street works and customer environments.

We're looking for engineers who also have:

  • A solid understanding of telecoms network quality standards and safe working practices.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using handheld technology and digital job management systems.
  • The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A full UK manual driving licence held for at least 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points.

What's in It for You?

  • Competitive earning potential.
  • Company vehicle, fuel card, tools, and PPE provided.
  • Long-term, consistent work on the Virgin Media network.
  • Ongoing training and industry-recognised accreditations.
  • Opportunities for career progression within a growing telecoms business.
  • Supportive management team committed to your development.
