Job Title: Vehicle Mechanic

Hours: 7:00am – 4:00pm Monday to Friday
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000

Extras: Company van (can be kept at home), tools, iPad, uniform, fuel card, excellent overtime rates, career progression and promotion opportunities.

Role Overview

As a Vehicle Mechanic, you will be primarily workshop-based with occasional mobile visits to local sites. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, repairs, and maintaining a fleet of light commercial vehicles.

This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage your workload effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and maintenance of light commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle faults efficiently.
• Strip, fit, and replace defective vehicle components where required.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing, ensuring all legal and safety standards are met.
• Complete job cards accurately and return them weekly for processing.
• Liaise with stores personnel to manage stock levels and order parts efficiently.
• Identify and recommend additional work requiring external specialist support.
• Work closely with Operations Managers to schedule vehicle servicing and minimise fleet downtime.
• Carry out repairs as required while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
• Conduct fault diagnostics and implement effective solutions.
• Ensure vehicles comply with all regulatory requirements.
• Manage stock and materials, ensuring availability of required parts and supplies.
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures at all times.
• Test drive vehicles to ensure faults have been resolved successfully.

 

Non-Routine Duties

• Continuously develop your skills through company-provided training and development.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Garage Manager.
