Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Head Office – Belfast (with occasional UK travel to project sites)

Role Overview
A leading façade and architectural glazing contractor is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support its expanding
commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company with a strong order book and sustainable growth strategy,

The successful candidate will assist in both pre- and post-contract commercial activities, supporting cost management,
subcontractor engagement, variation tracking, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Contract Duties:
• Support with document control and commercial file management.
• Carry out quantity take-offs for cost plans, tenders, and budget control.
• Assist in preparing and submitting tender bids and commercial proposals.
• Help identify risks, omissions, and opportunities during tender review.
• Work collaboratively with the estimating team on pre-contract deliverables.
Post-Contract Duties:
• Support subcontractor appointment processes and administration.
• Assist in managing subcontractor accounts: including measurements, variations, and payment notices.
• Maintain accurate cost records to support valuations, CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations), and variation claims.
• Participate in cost investigations and on-site measurements.
• Identify and record variations, ensuring commercial recovery in line with contract terms.
• Assist in preparing contractual correspondence using approved templates.
• Monitor cash flow projections versus actual spend and report discrepancies.
• Measure project interim and final accounts.
• Contribute to financial reporting at internal progress meetings.
• Support with weekly or biweekly labour cost assessments vs. budgeted outputs.
• Carry out other commercial tasks as required by the business.
Person Specification
Essential:
• Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience (or working towards qualification).
• Understanding of standard and bespoke forms of contract (JCT, NEC, etc.).
• Ability to read technical drawings and perform accurate take-offs/BOQs.
• Working knowledge of labour, plant, and material costs.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, especially under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable:
• Experience within the façades, cladding, or architectural glazing industry.
• Familiarity with contract correspondence procedures and financial reporting tools.
