Job Title: Purchasing Assistant (Fenestration Industry)

Location: Basildon, Essex

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain effective working relationships with

suppliers within the fenestration industry to ensure smooth procurement operations and timely

issue resolution.

• Procurement Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing records, supplier

databases, and procurement contracts, with a focus on products and services related to windows,

doors, and glazing systems.

• Supplier Performance Monitoring: Track and assess supplier performance against Service

Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring reliable delivery and service quality for fenestration materials

and components.

• Order Management: Monitor overdue orders and returns specific to fenestration products,

collaborating with suppliers and internal departments to resolve discrepancies efficiently.

• Customer Support (Seasonal/Peak Periods): Provide customer service support during busy

periods or holidays, addressing product inquiries and ensuring a positive experience for customers

in the fenestration sector.

• Communication Handling: Manage inbound communications from suppliers and customers,

responding to queries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify procurement issues and implement effective

solutions within the context of the fenestration industry.

• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when managing technical specifications, product

details, and supplier documentation.

• Fenestration Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific materials, standards, and

terminology is preferred and highly beneficial.

• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) to

manage procurement workflows and communication.

• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for professional

interaction with industry suppliers, customers, and team members.

• Organizational Abilities: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work

efficiently in a fast-paced, product-specific environment.

 

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within the fenestration or

construction supply industry.

• Working knowledge of fenestration systems, including windows, doors, curtain walls, and glazing

components.
