Job specification: Design Engineer

Location: Fulbourne, Cambridgeshire

Contract: Full time

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

Reports to: Project Design Director

The opportunity

Our client seeks an experienced glazing designer to produce coordinated drawings and technical information for manufacture, installation and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs and prepare general arrangement, detail and workshop drawings.
• Compile schedules covering glass and fixings.
• Attend site meetings and assist with surveys when required.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and project programmes.
• Discuss technical issues with office and site teams, contractors, auditors and regulators.

Experience and skills

• Glazing experience, preferably with Schüco, and knowledge of industry standards.
• Strong AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent CAD skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings, understand technical requirements and deliver projects.
• Office experience and competence with Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Clear spoken and written English, listening skills and effective organisation.
• Accuracy, independent working, teamwork and sound commercial judgement.
• Accountability and the ability to follow instructions.

Travel

A full driving licence and access to transport for commuting and work journeys are required.
