Job Title: Production Manager

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

 

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy manufacturing

facility specialising in windows, doors and associated glazing products. This is a hands-on leadership role

responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards

while driving continuous improvement across all areas of the operation.

The successful candidate will lead production teams, manage resources effectively, maintain quality and health and

safety standards, and work closely with internal departments to ensure customer requirements and delivery

schedules are consistently met.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage daily production activities to ensure manufacturing targets and delivery schedules

are achieved.

• Oversee the end-to-end manufacturing process, including fabrication, assembly, glazing, finishing and dispatch

operations.

• Monitor production output, productivity, labour utilisation and efficiency levels to maximise operational

performance.

• Lead, motivate and develop production supervisors, team leaders and operatives to achieve departmental

objectives.

• Ensure products are manufactured to required quality standards, specifications and customer requirements.

• Investigate production issues, non-conformances and quality concerns, implementing corrective actions where

required.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste and enhance operational

efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments and team briefings to promote a positive safety culture.

• Work closely with planning, procurement and warehouse teams to ensure material availability and production

continuity.

• Monitor stock levels of profiles, glass, hardware and ancillary components to minimise production delays.

• Manage labour resources effectively to meet changing production demands and customer requirements.

• Support the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, procedures and best practices.

• Review production schedules and adjust resources accordingly to meet business priorities.

• Analyse production data and prepare performance reports for senior management.

• Control production costs, minimise scrap levels and support budgetary objectives.

• Liaise with sales, technical, design and installation teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

• Provide technical and manufacturing input to support project planning and problem resolution.

• Ensure machinery, equipment and workstations are maintained to support efficient production operations.

• Lead training, performance management and development activities within the production team.

 

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Production Supervisor role within a

manufacturing environment.

• Strong understanding of window, door, glazing, aluminium, uPVC or fenestration manufacturing processes.

• Experience managing production teams within a fast-paced manufacturing operation.

• Knowledge of production planning, workflow management and resource allocation.

• Strong understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety regulations within a manufacturing environment.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation.

• Experience monitoring KPIs, production performance and operational efficiency.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across multiple departments.

• Proficiency in manufacturing software, ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
