Role Title: Technical Manager – Facades
Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire
Role Overview
The Technical Manager will play a key role in overseeing and delivering building safety remediation
projects, with a particular focus on façade systems and passive fire protection. This role involves
providing technical leadership across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with current regulations, and
supporting the successful delivery of remediation works from design through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on building safety remediation projects, particularly
façade and passive fire protection works.
• Review and assess existing building designs, specifications, and site conditions to identify
compliance gaps and remediation requirements.
• Oversee the development of technical solutions, ensuring alignment with current legislation,
industry standards, and best practice.
• Liaise with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure effective
communication and coordination.
• Support the design process, including reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical
submissions.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant building regulations, fire safety standards, and quality
requirements.
• Monitor project progress from a technical perspective, identifying risks and implementing
mitigation strategies.
• Provide technical input into project planning, procurement, and delivery phases.
• Assist in resolving on-site technical issues and provide guidance to ensure works are completed
safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and reports throughout the project lifecycle.
Systems & Tools
• Proficient use of MS Office and common project/document management systems.
• Familiarity with technical drawing software and digital collaboration tools is advantageous.
Person Specification
• Proven experience in a Technical Manager, Design Manager, or similar role within construction
or building remediation.
• Strong background in façade systems, cladding remediation, or passive fire protection is highly
desirable.
• Good understanding of current building regulations, fire safety legislation, and compliance
requirements.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workload effectively.
• Comfortable working independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Experience
• Experience working on building safety remediation or compliance-driven projects.
• Knowledge of materials and systems used in façade and fire protection works.
• Relevant professional qualifications in construction, engineering, or a related field.
