CAD Designer

Location: Dartford, Kent
Holidays: 20 days plus Bank Holidays
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join an established design team, working on a range of commercial glazing projects including shopfronts, entrance systems and curtain walling.

The role will involve taking projects from initial survey information through to the production of detailed drawings for client approval, working closely with the Projects team to ensure designs are technically accurate, practical and delivered within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities

Produce detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for shopfronts, entrances and curtain walling systems.
Take projects from initial survey information through to final approved drawings.
Interpret surveys, specifications, architectural drawings and technical information.
Develop accurate design solutions in line with project and structural requirements.
Liaise with clients and the Projects team to resolve technical and design queries.
Amend drawings following client comments and project changes.
Manage multiple projects and drawing deadlines.
Ensure drawings are accurate and suitable for manufacture and installation.
Identify potential design or technical issues and provide practical solutions.

Skills & Experience

Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
Knowledge of Logikal would be advantageous
Profile knowledge such as: Schüco, Reynaers, Wicona, Technal, SAPA, Kawneer and Crittall,
Previous experience working in a CAD/design role within construction, glazing, architectural metalwork or a related sector.
Experience of shopfronts, aluminium framing, entrance systems, curtain walling or commercial glazing would be highly advantageous.
Ability to interpret surveys, specifications and architectural drawings.
Good understanding of construction and structural requirements.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Confident communicating with clients and internal project teams.
Able to manage your own workload and work effectively to deadlines.
Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Estimator to join its growing commercial team in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with experience in aluminium glazing, windows, doors and

curtain walling to join a successful and expanding business delivering commercial and residential projects.

Working closely with the Sales, Technical, Design and Production teams, you will prepare accurate quotations,

review technical specifications and support customers throughout the estimating process.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining quotation accuracy, delivering excellent

customer service and maximising commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating and Quotations

• Prepare accurate quotations for aluminium window, door and curtain walling systems.

• Interpret architectural drawings, schedules and technical specifications.

• Produce costings using LogiKal and other estimating software.

• Ensure quotations remain commercially competitive while protecting company margins.

• Respond to customer enquiries and technical questions.

Technical Support

• Review project specifications and identify suitable system solutions.

• Liaise with the Design, Production and Sales teams to ensure technical accuracy.

• Identify potential design or manufacturing issues before an order is placed.

• Provide customers with technical product information where required.

Customer Service

• Build strong relationships with customers and internal departments.

• Provide clear and professional communication throughout the quotation process.

• Maintain excellent response times and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement

• Help improve estimating processes and quotation accuracy.

• Support the implementation of best practice across the estimating function.

• Maintain accurate project and quotation records.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous estimating experience within aluminium glazing, windows, doors, curtain walling or façade

systems.

• Strong commercial awareness.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Good organisational and workload-management skills.

• Strong communication and customer-service skills.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Software Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• LogiKal — preferred

• SchüCal

• ReynaPro

Essential Requirements

• Experience estimating aluminium glazing systems.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings.

• Good Microsoft Office skills.

• Strong numerical and analytical ability.

• Excellent communication skills.
